Toyota Hilux (KUN26)

The Toyota Hilux powered by the 1KD-FTV 3.0L turbo-diesel engine has earned a strong reputation in Australia for its balance of durability, performance, and efficiency. With excellent low-end torque, robust construction, and proven reliability, it excels both as a hardworking ute and a capable off-roader. Whether tackling remote tracks or handling daily workloads, the 1KD-FTV Hilux remains one of the most sought-after diesel utes, holding strong resale value and cementing its place as an icon in the Australian 4WD scene.

Introduction & Launch (2007-2024)

The VDJ 70 Series was introduced in 2007, replacing the previous HDJ 70 Series models. The biggest upgrade was the introduction of the 4.5-litre V8 turbo-diesel engine (1VD-FTV), providing more power and torque compared to the outgoing inline-six diesels. This engine made the 70 Series more capable for towing and off-road applications while maintaining Toyota’s legendary reliability.

Model Variants

The VDJ 70 Series is available in several body styles tailored to different needs:

WorkMate – Base-level model designed for fleet and commercial use.

GX – A mid-tier model with improved comfort features.

GXL – The most well-equipped variant, featuring additional comfort and safety features.

Body styles include:

Single Cab (VDJ79)

Double Cab (VDJ79)

Troop Carrier (VDJ78)

Wagon (VDJ76)
